After trauma, the brain tries to make sense of what happened. In doing so, it often develops rigid conclusions such as:

  • “I should have prevented it.”

These beliefs are not chosen — they are survival-based meanings the brain formed while overwhelmed.

It focuses on how trauma is remembered and interpreted rather than repeated exposure to the event.
